Personal Property Relief Act of 1998

The Virginia Personal Property Act of 1998 provides tax relief for personal use vehicles valued at $20,000 or less and having a registered gross weight less than 7,501 pounds.  This tax relief rate is set by the Board of Supervisors each year.  The relief rate for the 2011 tax year is $0.55%.
