On Wednesday, February 23, 2011 the County opened the new Surry County Resource and Employment Center, located at 11916 Rolfe Highway in the Town of Surry.  The Center will be open to all residents of Surry County and will assist individuals as they seek employment in addition to providing adult continuing education, GED preparatory classes and GED testing, job skill training and much more.  

The mission of the Surry County Resource and Employment Center is to empower individuals with resources to enhance their knowledge and technical skills to strengthen themselves, their families and the community. 

This venture represents a collaborative partnership between Surry County and the following agencies:

Surry Department of Social Services
Virginia Employment Commission
Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
Moving Forward Agency of the Crater Workforce Investment Board
Southside Programs for Adult Continuing Education
Goodwill Industries' Petersburg Community Employment Center
Department of Rehabilitative Services
