Broadband Services
The Surry County Broadband Authority seeks proposals from qualified entities for the deployment, operation and maintenance of a broadband network that will provide residents and businesses in un-served and under-served portions of Surry County, as well as certain governmental agencies, with affordable high speed broadband. Interested entities may obtain a copy of this Request for Proposal (RFP) from this website, or by requesting a copy at (757) 294-5210. The Authority anticipates funding the project in part with federal stimulus funds. Proposals should be sent to Surry County Broadband Authority, c/o Tyrone Franklin, County Administrator, Surry County Administration Office, P. O. Box 65, Surry County, Virginia 23883 or at 45 School Street Surry, VA 23883. The deadline for submissions is February 3, 2010 at 4:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Questions may be submitted in writing to Ms. Rhonda Russell Mack, Director of Community Development & Planning at the above address or via email at rmack@co.surry.state.va.us. Answers to questions submitted in writing on or before January 27, 2010 will be posted on the county’s website. Proposals will not be accepted after the February 3, 2010 deadline.
