COVID-19 Update

To mitigate the increased spread of COVID-19 in the Hampton Roads area Governor Northam presented Executive Order 68. EO-68 has new restrictions that apply to many Hampton Roads localities; however, Surry County is not currently impacted by this order. Surry County has been experiencing an increase in positive COVID19 cases; in recent weeks Surry County’s numbers have nearly doubled and we now have two deaths reported.

While Surry County is not impacted by the EO-68 we are asking all citizens to practice social distancing, wear a mask and follow all CDC recommendations to help prevent the spread of the virus. Practicing these recommendations will not only help to prevent the spread in Surry County, but may reduce future restrictions imposed by the Governor.

We have attached the Governor’s Executive Order 68 for your review of how these restrictions impact other localities in our region.”

COVID-19 Update

In recent weeks, the Hampton Roads area has experienced an alarming increase in the number of Coronavirus cases across the region. The rate of spread is double that of the rest of the State of Virginia.

Surry County’s COVID-19 positive case count is now 31, which is an increase of 50% in less than a week. As citizens of Surry County, we should all continue to do our part to prevent the spread of the virus by following all CDC recommendations as well as the Governor of Virginia’s Executive Orders.
