County offices have been conducting business by appointment only for the past several months in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the amount of foot traffic in buildings and offices. While the State of Virginia has lifted the masks mandate and other restrictions, the safety and security of employees and citizens post- COVID remains a priority.
Any citizen desiring to visit the government center or other offices may continue to call ahead to make an appointment even though not required. The Government Center (main office building) will continue to have the on-site attendant available to check in visitors and direct traffic as needed. While still being security and safety cautious, this will limit the number of citizens or visitors in one space at a time being that most offices are small and confined.
Members of public and employees are also “strongly encouraged” to abide by guidance and wear a mask if not fully vaccinated. We will still have hand sanitizer stations and encourage social distancing. The drop box is still available for citizens desiring to make payments to the Treasurer's office. We have increased cleaning and disinfecting of work areas as it makes practical sense to continue these and other protocols.
We have come a long way since this time last year. Continue to stay safe and have an enjoyable summer.
