Springsted | Waters, Inc., the recruitment team
contracted to assist the Surry County Board of Supervisors with its search for
a new County Administrator, has scheduled a public forum to be
held in the General District Courtroom located in the Surry County Government
Center on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 6:00pm. The current County Administrator, Mr. Tyrone
W. Franklin, will retire in early fall of 2018.
The purpose of the public forum is to gather input from citizens regarding
the attributes, skills and other traits which they feel are important to have
in their next County Administrator.
The public meeting will be facilitated by Mr. Steven
Miner, Vice-President of Springsted | Waters. Results from the session will be
utilized in the development of a recruitment profile. The profile will be published in a recruitment
brochure and distributed to potential applicants so that they will better
understand the attributes desired by the County in its next County
Administrator; and later, the profile will be used as a tool to screen the pool
of applicants for the position, resulting in a group of semi-finalists who most
closely meet these expressed desires. Recruitment profiles typically include such
things as the desired education and experience, personal and professional
characteristics, as well as work history, achievements, skills and knowledge
and any other traits which may be seen as important to successful functioning
as the County’s Chief Administrative Officer serving an elected Board of Supervisors
and, through them, the public.
The session will be conducted on an informal basis by Mr.
Miner for Springsted | Waters, who will compile the input into a draft profile
to be considered for approval by the Board of Supervisors at a later date. The Board and Mr. Miner invite all who wish
to provide input on the profile to attend the meeting.
