Surry County Considers a Food Hub

local food hub

The Surry County Economic Development Authority (EDA) has been engaged in exploring a concept for a Food Hub in Surry County.  All farmers and citizens interested in hearing and learning more are welcome to attend a meeting with EDA members on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 6:00 pm in the General District Courtroom of the Surry County Government Center.

The USDA definition of a food hub is, "A centrally located facility with a business management structure that facilitates and actively manages the aggregation, distribution and marketing of source-identified food products primarily from local and regional producers to strengthen their ability to satisfy wholesale, retail and institutional demand."
