It is the mission of the Treasurer’s Office to professionally and efficiently serve the citizens of Surry County.

The Treasurer’s Office is established, and is governed by, the Constitution of Virginia (est.1870).  The Treasurer is an elected position with a term of four years.  As a Constitutional Officer, the Treasurer is elected to serve the citizens of Surry County.  As custodian of the public funds, it is the responsibility of the Treasurer to collect revenue, reconcile and disburse funds, and to maximize the County’s returns on investments

Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes

Now Due

The Surry County Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills were mailed on October 17, 2017.  The taxes are due on, or before, December 5, 2017.  Late fees will be assessed beginning on December 6, 2017.  Please note that the Treasurer's Office does accept the USPS postmark of December 5, 2017 on payments received by mail. 

For the convenience of taxpayers, a drop box is located in the rear of the Surry County Government Center parking area near the entrance to the Sheriff's Office.  Citizens using the drop box to submit payments are advised to include a check, certified check or money order in a sealed envelope with payment stub or clearly indicate name, address and contact number of the taxpayer along with information detailing account/bill number where payment should be credited.  The Treasurer’s Office will not be responsible for cash payments deposited in the drop box.
